Description: The Edward Johnson Music Foundation celebrates Music Monday, an important day for music education in our schools, with a deliciously different fundraising event, our 2nd Annual Dine Out for Do Re Mi, on Monday, May 3, 2010.
In partnership with the Guelph and area restaurants,Dine Out for Do Re Mi is a unique opportunity for people to support the Foundation's Do Re Mi music education program just by dining out. Over 20 Guelph restaurants will be participating in the day-long event, generously contributing a percentage of their food sales to Do Re Mi. Proceeds from this annual event will help bring the Do Re Mi music education program to elementary schools in Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin Counties.
To participate, simply dine out for breakfast, lunch or dinner on Monday, May 3 at a participating restaurant. There's a choice for absolutely every taste and budget, from fine dining, ethnic fare to neighborhood eateries.
While enjoying dinner on May 3th, diners will have the opportunity to win prizes generously donated by local restaurants and caterers.

It might seem like an unusual request however, it is a huge financial and fundraising undertaking for "the little choir that could" as our school is situated in a lower-socio economic area of Niagara with many families that would not even consider buying tickets to a baseball game or even going to Toronto. A lot of our students lack the opportunities to attend a variety of happenings from camps, lessons, vacations, short trips to events like the theatre, ... They rely on our school community to help provide these incredibly enriching opportunities. No doubt the St.Alfred choir will be truly thankful for any contribution to our "Baseball Fund". To date we have raised $1500 by selling hot chocolate, hot dogs, subs and a raffle. We have a long way to go to arrive in Toronto on June 1st. Please help!

Description: To celebrate the impact and necessity of music education in the lives of our youth and to celebrate their successes, we are hosting a Music Gala at the RBC Centre (formerly the SSEC) in Sarnia, ON. The evening will open with the Lambton Concert Band performing our national anthem, and Emm Gryner will act as our gracious MC for the evening as various ensembles from across the region perform for an audience of thousands. The climactic ending of this momentous event will have all students in attendance (upwards of 1000 music students!) uniting through song as they perform Serena Ryder's "Sing Sing" to conclude this spectacular evening.

Description: Three neighboring Whitby elementary schools(Fallingbrook PS, Ormiston PS and Glen Dhu PS)will celebrate Music Monday together. The event is hosted at Fallingbrook Public School, and each school's bands will play together and choirs will sing together. The morning session will focus on "What Music MOnday is", and the importance of music in our schools and in our lives. Then we rehearse a common Band piece called "Na Na Hey Hey" and common Choir piece "A Song for the Mira." Also the Music Monday song and O Canada will be rehearsed. Parents, and press and school officials are invited to attend for the official nationwide singing of the Music Monday song and piece. Each school will also have an opportunity to play 2 selections of music from their own repertoire. It is a delightful day of learning and sharing music. We are grateful for the generous support of Long and McQuade to lend us additional instruments so our Junior Band can also play along with our Senior Band. This event marks our 4th anniversary of sharing the event with all 3 schools together. The event originated at Fallingbrook 4 years ago. Every year since, the event has been hosted at each of the 3 schools. We are looking forward to a wonderful celebration ofmusic and friendship. Special Music Monday ribbons are given to each student to wear at the event.

"Lynngate Lynngate" will also be accompanied by the cello - played by our principal, the piano - played by our music teacher, and the violin - played by one of our students.
Our gathering will also feature a violin duet performed by two students, as well as a student dance performance accompanied by contemporary music. Through these diverse performances, we want to advocate that music is important at Lynngate and is vital in our lives.
