My arrangement of Sing Sing for recorder ensemble came about because at my school I teach several different programs and depending on the grade, my students learn everything from singing games, Boomwhackers, Orff instruments, recorders, and band instruments. For Music Monday, most of these instruments already had existing arrangements available on the Coalition's website, but there was not one for recorders. This prompted me to create one and I figured that others might benefit from it as well.

My recorder students are learning soprano recorder 1, as this part concentrates mostly on Bb's and Ab's. Soprano recorder 2 and the Alto recorder part are used as enrichment for my gifted students. My students are learning that they can succeed with the piece if they put in the necessary effort and practice. I am confident that come Music Monday this year I will again experience goosebumps when they perform.
